This year’s winner of the W Keith Hedrick Playwrighting contest is a wonderfully unique mystery in which Aoise Stratford guides the audience through an investigation of a brutal murder. Stratford’s beautifully defined characters take us through the twists and turns of this finely crafted story. Even the dead young woman plays a role in an attempt to solve the reason for her murder.

AOISE STRATFORD has won seveeral awards including the Yukon Pacific Playwright Award, a Last Frontier Conference Panelist Choise Award, and the Alan Minieri Award. She has also been a finalist for the Humana Festival’s Heideman Award (2003), received an American Theatre Critics’ Association New Play Award nomination (2002), and a silver medalist in the 2004 pinter Preview Prize for Drama. Her work has been produced throughout the USA and in Italy, Canada, and Australia. Various of her monologues have been published by Smith and Kraus. She has received residencies from the Byrdcliffe Arts Colony and the Vermont Studio Center, she is a member of the Dramatists’ Guild, and she serves on the advisory board or the Playwrights Center of San Francisco, and is a regular new play respondent for ACTF and the Last Frontier Theatre Conference. Her latest play, Love and a Wide Moon, is this year’s winner of the W Keith Hedrick Playwriting Contest and will be presented as the final staged reading of the season on May 20th, 2006.
